Children’s playground in Zoo Palić – IPA project Majestic ZOOs

The IPA Project HR-RS00076 – Majestic ZOOs, in which Zoo Palić is the lead partner, continues to be implemented with funding from the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds of the Republic of Croatia, as well as with the support of the City of Subotica. We have been given the opportunity, together with our project partners, to utilize a grant of up to nearly EUR 1.3 million, introduce new attractions in the zoological gardens of Palić and Osijek, and thereby indirectly contribute to the tourism potential of our cities.

The project was submitted by Zoo Palić in partnership with the Tourist Organization of the City of Subotica and the cross-border partner Unikom d.o.o. (whose organizational unit includes Zoo Osijek), which is also supported by the Tourist Board of the City of Osijek. The project envisages the construction of animal facilities and a children’s playground in both zoos, as well as an outdoor classroom in Palić.

Following the construction of new facilities in the zoos, the focus of activities will shift to the partner tourist organizations, which through joint and individual initiatives will contribute to the promotion of tourist destinations. This is expected to increase the number of visitors to the zoos and to further highlight the overall tourism potential of the regions participating in the cross-border project.

We are particularly pleased that, through this project, we are able to elevate the excellent cooperation we have with
Zoo Osijek to a higher level, promote one another, and exchange experiences.

Equally important is the opportunity to construct new facilities within our own zoological garden.

The outdoor classroom is currently in the furnishing phase and will become operational in April, while the “Baby Zoo” facility is planned to be occupied in June of this year.

After nearly 50 years of use, the old playground has gone into well-deserved retirement, and a new one has been built from the ground up, featuring numerous interactive and educational elements. Animal-shaped play equipment has blended harmoniously into the zoo environment, enhancing the attractiveness of the new space for children. Special care was taken to preserve all existing trees on the playground so that the new area remains a favorite resting spot in the heart of the zoo.
