The Jews live in Subotica since 1775. The building of the Jewish community of Subotica was built in 1902, at the same time as the building of the monumental New Synagogue.
It is located in the center of the city and is under the protection as the architectural heritage of secession builders, Marcell Comor and Dezső Jakab, who designed the Synagogue, the City Hall and some other buildings in Subotica, giving it the epithet of the city of secession.
