In the street Matije Korvina, a monument was set up for the Hungarian king and nobleman of Subotica, who ruled in the middle of the 15th century.
Matthias Corvinus(1443-1490) was the son of Janko Sibinjanin who successfully fought against the Turks and the Habsburgs and was known as a rightful king to his citizens.
The monument was raised by a private investor for the occasion of the 560th anniversary of the coronation of ruler of Hungary. Setting up the monument in Subotica, in honor of Matthias Corvinus, is considered as another gesture that symbolizes the exceptional friendship between Serbia and Hungary.
