Austro-Hungarian bank palace

This massive ground-floor building which gives the impression of security and stability was designed by Ferenc Raichle in 1901.

The influence of Art Nouveau on the building can be seen in the multitude of decorative elements such as women figures, head of Mercury, sunflower blossoms, a hive, a door handle in the shape of sphinx – which symbolically conveyed the message of wealth, safety and secrecy.
