Dužijanca is a distinctive, oldest, and most authentic event on the summer cultural calendar of Subotica. It celebrates human labour and harvest-related customs, as well as giving thanks for the fruits of the earth. The event lasts about four months and concludes with a ceremonial parade of participants in traditional costumes and beautifully decorated carriages. After months of preparation, the highlight of Dužijanca is a three-day celebration, always held on the second weekend of August. The event gathers thousands of participants and visitors from various parts of Serbia and neighbouring countries.
