The owner of this palace was Jovan Dimitrijević, a mayor of Subotica during 1849, after which he became a city Senator.
In the fire that erupted in 1880, several ground-floor houses disappeared, including a house owned by Dimitrijević, who then asks the town office for permission to build a tenement palace in the same place.
The next year, according to Titus Mačković’s project, a one-storey neo-renaissance house with shopping malls on the ground floor and apartments for rent on the first floor was built.
