The SDK Building in Subotica is a remarkable example of early 20th-century commercial architecture and an officially protected cultural monument. Situated in the heart of the city center, it stands as a glowing testament to Subotica’s era of rapid economic and urban development.

Originally adapted and expanded for banking operations in 1912—when an additional floor was added—the project was brought to life by the renowned Secessionist architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab, whose vision fundamentally shaped the architectural identity of the city.

The facade is designed in the Neo-Renaissance style with Classicist touches, complemented by subtle Art Nouveau motifs, particularly visible in its delicate floral ornamentation and surface finishes.

A true highlight of the building lies within its beautifully preserved ground-floor interior. Here, the warmth of carved wood, massive counter partitions, and meticulously crafted original furniture create an atmosphere of timeless elegance. Above, a central atrium features a breathtaking decorative stained-glass skylight, bathing the space in a majestic light.

Following a careful restoration in 2009, the building proudly preserves its architectural grandeur and historical legacy, standing as an enduring jewel within Subotica’s vibrant cityscape.
