The Majestic ZOOs project aims to develop and promote family tourism in the cross-border area of Croatia and Serbia, with an emphasis on public tourist spaces such as zoos. The project, supported by the Interreg IPA CBC Croatia-Serbia 2021-2027 Program, seeks to transform zoos into inclusive tourist destinations with added value, tailored for families, children, children with special needs, zoo visitors, and nature lovers. Through investments in minor infrastructure, such as “petting zoos,” accessible playgrounds, and outdoor educational spaces, the zoos in Osijek and Palić will offer new attractions that bring families closer to nature.

The project also emphasizes sustainability by integrating green infrastructure and preserving the region’s cultural and natural heritage, such as Pannonian architecture and indigenous species. Through innovative solutions, Majestic ZOOs aims to create a peaceful, educational environment where visitors can interact with animals, learn about biodiversity, and enjoy the outdoors.

The promotion of the project will be led by the Tourist Board of the City of Osijek and the Tourist Organization of the City of Subotica, with the aim of attracting various target groups, including kindergartens, schools, teachers, families with children, youth, tourism workers, travel agencies, educators, zoologists, and nature protection organizations. Promotional activities will include conferences, exhibitions, panels, workshops, photos and promotional videos, manuals, and press trips, ensuring high visibility and interest in the project.
