Subotica stands out as one of the top destinations for the May Day holidays—accommodation capacities are largely booked, and tourist interest is exceptionally high across the entire region.

This surge is backed by a steady rise in tourism: early this year alone, the city recorded nearly 16% more arrivals and over 20% more overnight stays compared to last year.

“What draws guests most during the May Day holidays is the authentic Experience on traditional farmsteads (salaši)—the May Day dawn celebration (uranak) in nature, the aroma of homemade cuisine, the melodic sound of tamburitza musicians, and a relaxed atmosphere that lasts all day long. The holiday program is tailored for everyone, offering everything from family outdoor activities to experiences that blend tradition, gastronomy, and local culture,” highlights Božidarka Golubović, Director of the Tourist Organization of the City of Subotica.

During the holidays, local stud farms enrich their offer with horseback riding, carriage rides, and interactive children’s activities—making them a hit for families seeking an active outdoor retreat and a unique connection with horses.
