September in Subotica carries a special energy. On the occasion of City Day, from August 27 to September 2, Subotica becomes a meeting point for locals, guests from Serbia, and visitors from abroad, featuring a rich multi-day program that blends music, culture, sports, and entertainment. The central part of the celebration awaits us on August 31, September 1, and September 2 at Freedom Square, with concerts, programs by city cultural institutions, and numerous activities designed for all generations.
The prelude to the celebration will be the 9th Subotica Half Marathon on August 30, while a free two-hour guided walking tour of Subotica will be organized for participants and runners on August 29. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover part of the city’s most valuable architectural heritage and visit the Synagogue, the City Museum, and the Raichle Palace. The Tourist Info Center in Subotica will be open from 8 AM to 8 PM on August 31, September 1, and September 2, providing all guests with information about the event schedule, as well as the overall tourist offer of Subotica and its surroundings.
A three-day musical program will bring a special atmosphere to the central celebration. On Monday, August 31, the audience can expect a concert by the Subotica Symphony Orchestra and the ABBA Real Tribute Band, performing the greatest hits of the legendary Swedish group in symphonic arrangements. City Day, September 1, will be marked by a grand concert by Dragana Mirković, traditionally hosted at Freedom Square by the Tourist Organization of the City of Subotica and the City of Subotica, while the Hungarian pop-rock band Republic will perform on September 2.
City Day is therefore more than just a celebration—it is an opportunity to experience Subotica from a fresh perspective, walk its streets, discover its architecture, culture, and gastronomy, and feel the city’s signature multicultural atmosphere.
